This knowledge base has been created for the purpose of dissemination of information on the significance, role and functions of green and blue infrastructure for the sake of both biodiversity conservation (a.o. role in maintenance and enhancement of ecological connectivity) as well as sustainable local development that is, among other factors, dependent upon provision of a range of important ecosystem services.

Clicking the "Topics" icon below will open the knowledge base with the contents grouped in two major categories: (A) English materials developed within this LIFE project; (B) additional selected reference materials - such as review articles or strategic documents - devoted to green and blue infrastructure.

This knowledge base has been installed on an e-Learning platform and created within a LIFE project entitled Green-Go! Local initiatives for deployment of green infrastructure within Natura 2000 sites in the Carpathians (LIFE16 GIE/PL/000648), coordinated and implemented by UNEP/GRID-Warsaw Centre. The main goal of the project is to support local self-government authorities and local action groups, as well as spurring engagement of local communities i for identification, conservation, and restoration of green infrastructure in rural areas in Polish Carpathians, thus contributing to the implementation of the Carpathian Convention.
